Camp Emerson King of the Mountain Return of the King Camporee

The King of the Mountain Camporee at Camp Emerson is the ultimate test of Scouting skills, and teamwork. This competition brings together Scouts from across Southern California. Councils, Districts, Troops, and Scouts battle for supremacy in the wilderness of Camp Emerson. Scouts will face a series of physically and mentally demanding competitions designed to challenge their knowledge and skills. Events include:

 Pioneering Challenges – Build sturdy structures using lashings and knots.
 First Aid Gauntlet – Rapid-response scenarios to test lifesaving skills.
Knot Tying Competition – Scouts will showcase their speed and precision in tying essential knots used in Scouting
 Scout Knowledge Showdown – Scouts test their knowledge on Scouting history, advancement requirements, and general Scout knowledge.
 Mystery Events – During the free time session of camporee, special Surprise Challenges will be announced.
 Campsite Inspection & Camp Gateway Competition – During free time of Camporee, Scouts are encouraged to organize their campsites, build their camp gateways, and work on pioneering projects. The campsites will be judged on the organization, cleanliness, and overall presentation of their campsite. Bonus points for creative and well-constructed campsite gateways or pioneering projects that showcase Scout skills and Troop pride.
 Mountain Chef Cook-Off – Scouts will use their free time to carefully plan, cook, and perform a presentation to impress the judges in this thrilling outdoor cooking challenge their are three categories:

• • •  Top Burger – Scouts craft the ultimate burger using creativity and skill.
    •  Top Dessert – A sweet treat cooked outdoors that showcases innovation and flavor.
    •  Top Side Dish – Prepared by an adult leader, with extra points awarded if the dish complements the Troop’s burger.
    •  Bonus Challenge – Mystery Ingredient! For extra bonus points, Scouts will be given a mystery ingredient that must be incorporated into their burger and/or side dish. The mystery ingredient will be revealed just before cooking begins, requiring teams to think creatively, adapt their recipes, and showcase culinary skill in making the ingredient work within their meal.

 Scout Spirit Award – The Troop, Patrol, and Scout that demonstrates the highest level of enthusiasm, teamwork, and Scouting values throughout the camporee will earn extra points toward their overall score.

 Grand Finale – Evening Campfire & Awards Ceremony

At the conclusion of the King of the Mountain Camporee, all Scouts, leaders, and staff will gather at The Bear Trap Bowl for an unforgettable evening of celebration and recognition. The Evening Campfire Program will feature Traditional Scout Songs & Cheers, get ready for high-energy participation!  Award Presentations, the winners of each event will be recognized

Knot Ninja Award – Fastest and most skilled Scout in the Knot Tying Competition.
